Visiting the Landscape of the Year

Naturefriends International and Naturefriends Senegal invite you to take part in a two-week Naturefriends exchange to The Gambia and Senegal on the occasion of the festivities for the successful implementation of the first African Landscape of the Year. The international exchange marks the beginning of a series of activities for the 125th anniversary of the Naturefriends movement.

One highlight is the traditional Kankurang festival, which takes place from January 17th – 19th, 2020  in Janjanbureh (The Gambia).  After the festival, the journey will focus on experiencing the culture and nature in the Landscape of the Year and on meeting the local population: visits to the villages, hikes and a boat tours on the Gambia River. The next destination is then the Saloum Delta, where more meetings with Senegalese Naturefriends are planned.

Participants will travel to and from Dakar individually. Naturefriends Senegal will organise the transfer from the airport to the Naturefriends House in Dakar and back. If you have questions about which flight to book, we will be happy to offer advice

The provisional programme is already available (download). We are already accepting advance registrations. The trip will cost about 1.400 Euro in total (excluding flights), depending on the amount of travellers.
