Naturefriends International launches its first extensive environmental campaign on the occasion of the 100-year anniversary of the Naturefriends movement. It is NFI’s contribution to the fight against advancing forest dieback, which is caused by the dramatic increase in air pollution. "100,000 trees for Europe" becomes a symbol for the strong Naturefriends commitment at the local, national and international level and reinforces Naturefriends’ demand for sustainable European environmental policies.

The campaign experiences impressive success: Over the course of the year 1995, 362 groups in all European countries, in the United States and in Nepal planted 157,691 trees. A small snowball became an avalanche!
