For over 20 years, young people from Baden-Württemberg (Germany) have been coming to Volterra, a historically important city in Tuscany, to learn traditional techniques of local craftsmanship. The project was initiated by the local group of Naturefriends of Italy in Volterra. So far, more than 400 young people have come to Volterra, who have been instrumental in the renovation of historic Etruscan and Roman buildings in the town.

This project involves the state government of Baden-Württemberg, the Stuttgart Chamber of Crafts, the municipality of Volterra, the Cassa di Risparmio di Volterra Foundation and the Villa Palagione Intercultural Centre.
