Sustainable tourism isn’t only fair to the environment, but also to the people – those working in the tourism industry as well as those living in the destination countries.

This is why Naturefriends International, together with seven civil society organisations, founded the "Roundtable Human Rights in Tourism" in 2012. This multi-stakeholder initiative – it includes members from the tourism industry, research and civil society – considers itself an open platform which champions the respect of and compliance with human rights in tourism. To that end, this network of various interest groups provides access to specialist knowledge, initiates pilot projects and develops education material.
