The 100th Year series of festivities of Naturefriends USA started in May 2012 with a big Bang the Golden Gate Bridge’s 75 anniversary and spectacular fireworks. A group of Naturefriends trekked from San Francisco across the Golden Gate to the Naturefriends Tourist Club above the famous Muir Woods, beloved for its giant redwood trees. In June an outdoor camp was held, like the old-timers had. Mill Valley, the city where the Naturefriends club is located, even brewed a Kölsch beer in honor of Naturefriends, and San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee, proclaimed November 3rd Naturefriends San Francisco Day. The festivities culminated in a magnificent dinner celebration, with NFI President Manfred Pils and his wife Barbara in attendance, all the way from Europe, who presented them with a commemorative award!

In California two additional branches will be celebrating milestone anniversaries: Naturefriends Oakland 100 years in 2020; and Naturefriends Los Angeles 100 years in 2021.
