The event on 5 July fulfilled all expectations and promised to be an impressive Climate Hike right from the start. The guided hike not only allowed participants to experience the impressive natural scenery around Kolm-Saigurn, but also created space for exchange, reflection and new perspectives, combining the joy of being outdoors with concrete ideas for sustainable living and a conscious approach to our environment.

During the approximately three-hour hike along the newly opened glacier trail ‘Gletschereis und Goldrausch’ (Glacier Ice and Gold Rush), selected methods from the Climate Hike Guideline were applied. In small discussion groups and interactive exercises, we explored topics such as climate justice, climate communication and personal contributions to environmental protection. The important thing was not to assign blame, but to motivate and encourage people to change.

The highlight of the event was the simultaneous ‘Glacier Concert’, during which pianist and mountaineer Chiara Schmidt transformed the area around the melting Goldbergkees glacier at over 2,000 metres above sea level into a place of musical and emotional meeting space!
