Climate Hike Knofeleben

The Climate Hike Knofeleben takes us through impressive scenery up to the Naturfreundehaus Knofeleben at 1,250 metres above sea level.

On 23 July, Naturefriends International invites you to a special Climate Hike to Knofeleben: a guided hike with depth. Led by Bernhard Mang from the City of Vienna, we will embark on an exciting tour through the impressive mountain landscape around Payerbach. The focus will be on key questions for the future: What do drought, aridity and the increasing risk of forest fires mean for our forests? What is the state of the water supply in the region and what can we do to protect existing resources?

As part of the Nature Friends Youth Climate Tour, we will not only experience the beauty of nature, but also combine it with a dialogue on climate justice, environmental responsibility and sustainable lifestyles. The Climate Hike offers interactive methods from experiential education that get your head, heart and legs moving, as well as creating space for questions, exchange and new perspectives.

The trail leads from Payerbach-Reichenau railway station through impressive scenery up to the Naturfreundehaus Knofeleben at 1,250 metres above sea level. The hike takes around two and a half hours and requires sure-footedness and sturdy footwear. You will be rewarded with a beautiful scenery and inspiring conversations along the way. Participation is free of charge, and you can make your own way back. Overnight stays can be arranged directly with the Naturfreundehaus Knofeleben.

If you want to experience nature and discuss the importance of climate protection and climate justice as the basis for a good life for everyone, then join us!
