People with physical disabilities usually encounter barriers in nature very quickly: a tree root, a steep incline or even a lack of information about the path conditions or the required infrastructure often prevent the experience of nature. And also when excursions to the outdoors are organised, the target group of disabled people is often neglected.

The joint initiative of Naturefriends International, Naturefriends Austria and Austrian Federal Forests (Österreichische Bundesforste) is intended to motivate people to actively promote the opportunities for experiencing nature for people with disabilities. This often requires only a few measures that are easy to implement. These measures are described in detail in a guideline, which builds on the practical experiences gained from a pilot project implemented by the project partners.
